What is your Cancellation Policy? 2015-03-16T17:36:16+00:00

Student cancellations, on short notice or for no-shows, have repurcussions for me, and for the other students, including lost revenue from turning away students, lost prep time, and the potential of causing class cancellations. Because of this, I maintain a cancellation policy as follows:

  • Tuition is fully refundable if enrollment is cancelled at least 3 business days prior to class.
    If enrollment is cancelled between 1-3 business days prior to the class, you will receive a 50% refund -minus- a $55 Administration Fee.
  • There is no refund of tuition for cancellation within 1 business day of training or for no-shows.
  • If a student moves enrollment to a different course date with less than 3 business days notice, tuition is no longer fully refundable for future cancellations with any amount of notice.
  • For multiple cancellations with less than 3 business days notice, I reserve the right to return 50% tuition -minus- a $55 Administrative Fee. Terms and enforcement of this refund/cancellation policy are at the sole discretion of Steve Weinrebe.
  • Unused tuition, from cancellation(s), is considered expired after one calendar year from time of enrollment.
  • NOTE: If class is cancelled, on my end, for any reason and you are unable to reschedule, your tuition is fully refundable.

For Photoshop classes, nothing. Just arrive by class start time. We provide workstations for use during the class, note paper and pen, spring water, coffee, and tea. Students provide their own lunch and there is a cafeteria on the premises or nearby; but you are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch as well and there is a break out area with seating and refrigerator and microwave.

For Photography Workshops, bring your digital camera (preferably a Digital SLR, Mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses etc.). Be sure to charge your battery ahead of time – and be sure your memory card is in your camera, with available space. If you have a wide angle and a telephoto lens, bring both. A tripod is not needed and will unnecessarily bog you down – unless specifically requested ahead of time by me, for a specific workshop topic.

Do you provide handouts? 2015-03-16T16:46:58+00:00

For Photoshop classes, all students receive CD of samples or an online link to download samples from, and in most classes other handouts as well, on the course subject. (Note: We do not give away or sell Adobe software – see question/answer #10.)

You will also receive a link to several online sources, as well as the instructor’s email for followup questions.

Will the instructor be in the classroom with me? 2015-03-24T18:25:56+00:00

Yes, for all my scheduled classes I will be in the classroom teaching the class – as opposed to a lot of training centers that advertise “instructor led” classes only to place the student in front of a video screen. My classes in NJ are hands-on, instructor-led, and I am actually in the classroom with my students. Only my Online training classes are not live. If you are checking around to see what training is available, that is one of the most important questions you should ask.

Will my instructor be an Adobe Certified Instructor? 2017-12-03T10:13:52+00:00

ACI logo 2014 blankYes, Steve is an Adobe Certified Instructor – one of Adobe’s first ever to hold that certification – the highest level of teaching certification that Adobe offers, as well as a Certified Technical Trainer. For any other courses listed, instructors are also Adobe Certified and Certified Technical Trainers (CTT+) as well, credentials specific for teaching technical information to adult students.

Steve and his team of instructors are noted experts in their field, speakers and authors on the subjects we teach, and we have a tremendous amount of in-the-trenches professional experience to bring to the classroom as well. We pride ourselves in the quality of our instruction and the feedback we receive for our skills in training.

Do you offer a choice of Mac or Windows workstations for students to use during the class? 2015-03-16T16:39:30+00:00

Yes, upon enrollment you’ll receive a questionnaire in which you should indicate your preference for Windows or Mac.

If you don’t let me know ahead of time, you will be set up on a Windows workstation to use during the class. Your workstation will have all the necessary sample files and software already loaded.

So if you are a Mac user, please be vocal ahead of time and let me know you want to be set up on a Mac. Mac users are also welcome to bring their own laptop, however the sample files will not be on your computer and so adding them can take up valuable class time. Email me ahead of time to inquire re: bringing your own laptop of that is what you want to do.

Do students receive a certificate on course completion? 2015-03-16T17:42:40+00:00

Yes, all Photoshop and Lightroom students receive a certificate of achievement upon course completion. Please note, a certificate of achievement is not a professional certification, but it may be required by your employer as proof you attended the course, such as for reimbursement.

The certificate we give may also be helpful to your tax professional in the event that you are able to deduct the tuition as a continuing education expense related to your field.

Photography Workshop students may receive a certificate, depending on the duration and scope of the workshop.

Can my company or institution use a Purchase Order instead of payment? 2015-08-10T10:27:44+00:00

Sorry but I am unable to accept Purchase Orders where payment will be made after the class. I do not make exceptions to this policy, including for Government institutions. Like any school, tuition is due in advance of the class.

However you can use a Purchase Order to secure a seat in an upcoming training or workshop. I will hold your spot, and provide an Invoice and W9 where necessary. After the Purchase Order is received you will receive enrollment confirmation, pending tuition payment. Once payment is received you will receive an Invoice marked Paid. In any event, the check or credit card payment promised in the Purchase Order must be made in advance of the class.

In the event your company or institution wants to initiate your enrollment with a Purchase Order, I suggest you enroll in one of the listed course dates far enough out to allow your company or institution to make payment in time to take the class. In other words if it takes 30 days to issue a check, and another few days for the check to reach the mailroom, I suggest you schedule your class at least 2 months out.

I strive to do everything possible to ensure a successful, long-term relationship with my clients and I want you to not only enjoy your experience, but refer your friends and associates. Hands-on instructor-led training is an organized, effective way to learn software quickly in a structured environment. I consistently receive the highest feedback attainable from the vast majority of my students, and I give out my email address for post-training questions. In addition students take the sample files and class notes home with them, and it is certainly possible for my clients to self-study this material if they have the discipline, time and facility in which to do so. Because of that, in the unlikely event I fail to meet your expectations after taking the full training – and though I will do my best to work with you to resolve customer service issues – I do not offer retakes.

I do not offer refunds or retakes for classes that have been attended, however as stated above I am available for questions post-class. I may also be available to be hired for one-on-one update or advanced training post-class, and at a fee to be determined. As it states on my course descriptions page, each class is unique, and I do not guarantee that all topics mentioned on the course outlines will be covered in every class. It’s my philosophy that to a large degree, participants get maximum value from a class when they are well prepared for the experience, well versed in using a computer, and have access to the software they were instructed on in order to practice post-training. Participants are encouraged to communicate their primary objectives on my pre-class questionnaire. I do not guarantee that all objectives on the questionnaire will be covered, usually they are. Refunds are not available if a particular objective is not met, or a student fails to absorb the material.

Bear in mind, I am trained to perceive students that are not able to understand the material. It is my expectation that students are well versed with the use of computers before taking one of my classes. If a student is unable to grasp the material they may be asked to leave and be issued a refund.

Can I enroll my son or daughter, who is a minor, to take the class either with me or on their own? Is there a discount for minors? 2017-12-03T10:13:52+00:00

Consider this carefully because my classes are professional courses attended largely by professional or corporate users of the software. You may enroll a minor 16 yrs. old and up as long as they already have great computer skills (e.g. are proficient in at least one or two other programs, understand how to save files to disk, know what “fonts” are, how to cut/copy/paste, difference between megabytes and gigabytes etc.), and they would be comfortable learning advanced art and graphics concepts such as color theory.

The class is also a long day, hours straight of listening and practicing – very different from the 45 minute learning increments, on single subjects, that minors are used to.

Regardless, if they have trouble keeping up they might end up in the position of auditing the class, so please consider carefully their skill and maturity level before enrolling them. There is no tuition discount for age, nor course retake policy for minors.

Do you train students for Adobe certification: ACE (Adobe Certified Expert) or ACA (Adobe Certified Associate)? 2017-12-03T10:13:52+00:00

Not specifically but I can make suggestions as to how to help prepare for the certification tests beyond the learning accomplished in the classroom. Our classes are designed to get students comfortable with using the software for production, and I cover a lot of the groundwork for the level of expertise certification requires.

Before taking an Adobe certification test I recommend taking a class, using the software extensively, studying some reference books on the software, and taking some practice tests. After your class I will recommend a link to a resource for practice tests.

Do you sell or give out software? 2015-03-16T17:02:43+00:00

No, we are not an Adobe software reseller so we do not sell software. We do not give away any software either, though many classes include a CD or available download of samples that the student can bring home for practice.

Adobe Photoshop CC software, and the other Adobe Creative Cloud applications, can only be purchased and downloaded from Adobe.com, by subscription. The subscription price for the Photoshop bundle is quite reasonable. You can also download a 30 day free trial.

For the classes I do provide computer workstations, with the subject software installed – for use during the class time. The free 30 day trial that you can download from Adobe.com, provides a ready alternative to keep up with Photoshop right after the class. However if you do not own Photoshop, plan to have Photoshop at your job in the coming month or so, nor plan to purchase a subscription to Photoshop CC, I do not recommend you take a class at this time. Working with Photoshop in the weeks after taking the class is critical in reinforcing what you have learned.

What version of Photoshop software do you teach with? 2015-03-16T16:52:36+00:00

Currently the latest update of Photoshop CC. I always have on hand the latest version of the software (many training centers don’t). Changes to Adobe applications are usually minor and largely cosmetic, so if you are using a recent but earlier version you should be able to apply a great deal of what you learn to your own version.

(For Photoshop, the majority of the training has not changed in quite a while.)

Adobe’s Creative Cloud software, with its frequent updates, is the latest version. I have CC, as well as CS6, installed on our systems and are ready for students that subscribe to the Adobe Creative Cloud software. However many companies and individuals have a significant investment in CS6 or earlier, and some of my students prefer to just work in CS6. That’s fine, you’ll still learn to master that version as well.

How large are the classroom classes? 2017-12-03T10:13:52+00:00

My maximum for Photoshop classes is six students, though typically the classes are even smaller – from 1 to 4 students. I offer very small classes with lots of individual attention.

Photography Workshops have a maximum of 12 students though typically they range from 3 to 6 students. For the Workshops, there is more interaction between students, as well as much more time to experiment.

For both Photoshop classes and Photography Workshops, attending a course with other students is very beneficial to the adult learning process. You learn from each other’s questions, and from the personal goals and experience you each bring.

Federal Government customers and employees are entitled to GSA discounts based on our GSA Government contracts, and according to FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) under Schedule 70. A partial list of participating agencies can be found here. Government Purchase Cards are accepted.

Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline.
